Filer

Welcome to Twin Falls County’s most charming communities! Filer Idaho is a rural town just west of Hwy 93 between Poline and Hwy 30. It is home to about 3,000 people. Filer was named after Walter G. Filer, who served as general manager of the Twin Falls Water and Canal Company, he was also a mining engineer and helped supervise the construction of the Milner Dam. Filer was established in 1906.

Being a primarily agricultural town, the people who live in Filer love the small hometown feel with easy access to all the city amenities in Twin Falls just 3 miles away.  St. Lukes, Costco, the Magic Valley Mall… all just minutes away!

Although most days in this small town are quiet and peaceful, a few times a year it draws folks in from all over the region.  Filer is home to the Twin Falls County Fair and Rodeo, one of the biggest fairs in the Northwest United States! It has been a popular event since 1916. Each year residents and visitors enjoy all the local vendors as well as the annual carnival, rodeos, 4H, FFA and live concerts!

Each year the Gordy’s Hwy 30 Music Fest comes to town! This three-day, family-friendly music festival is nestled in the trees and grass of the fairgrounds. There is a little bit of everything including a beer garden, food vendors, and bounce houses! And don’t forget the music: a fantastic collection of Country, Americana, Rock, and Red Dirt artists are ready to keep the good times rolling.

Various other shows are held throughout the year as well… From the occasional gun show to arts and crafts there is something for everyone!  If you are looking for full time entertainment Filer is home to a fun 9 hole golf course, Pebble Ponds. The clubhouse offers excellent food and drinks as well as occasional live music.

The local events and attractions are not all this city has to offer, it is surrounding by many outdoor attractions. There many fishing spots and even small ponds that are specifically for the kids to fish out of. If you happen to be around during the summer and fall season, Kelly’s Canyon Orchard is a beautiful spot that offers visitors the pick-your-own experience or already picked produce at the on site orchard fruit stand. It was established in 1908 and the family has a legacy of growing fresh, tree-ripe fruit featuring cherries, apricots, peaches, pears, nectarines, plums, apples, tomatoes and melons. The orchard is owned and operated by the “Kelley Girls” and has been a family affair for four – now going on five – generations. The support for local in thistown is strong to say the least. Filer is a wonderful spot to visit or relocate to.
